This Thing Called Life

Dearly Beloved, travel with me if you will, to the year 2020. Things have changed, and the world is in a panic; oh no, a Pandemic! Leadership appears non-existent, playing a game of ping pong. Blame starts at the top and rolls down. That’s just the beginning of the crazy.

Yes, I am an avid Prince fan. I was the girl in purple at the concert. I was the one who went to see Purple Rain numerous times; all decked out in purple. Purple is still one of my favorite colors.

Back to our current situation. There is the battle over wearing masks or don’t wear a mask. The argument over social distance or don’t social distance. There is a new virus on the scene, and it’s taking lives. That’s just the beginning of the crazy.

Georgia’s Governor is suing Atlanta’s Mayor and City Council. Mayors are looking at the life and health of people. Governors are concerned with the economy. That’s just the beginning of the crazy.

The President wants students to go back into the school buildings. I wonder how many students will be in his son’s classroom. He says they are the least susceptible to the virus. I wonder who he thinks is going into the building to teach them. That’s just the beginning of the crazy.

The President has not mentioned teachers. They are not a concern of his. He wants to defund schools that do not open traditionally, but, he won’t defund police departments for chocking Black men. That’s just the beginning of the crazy.

He signs a vague and useless executive order concerning police brutality, but, he has yet to acknowledge the systemic racism in this country. He is unstable, incapable, and unfit to make a decision on behalf of the country. He is narcissistic and has no concern for others. That’s just the beginning of the crazy.

There is an upcoming presidential election. It’s a matter of life and death. New voting machines don’t work correctly, another ploy of voter suppression. That’s just the beginning of the crazy.

2020 is anything but normal, clear, and sharp. There is no such thing as ordinary. And one thing for certain is everything is uncertain, but we can’t let the circumstances bring us down. That’s just the beginning of the crazy.
